Saturday 25 July – we spent a veg morning — just hanging out in our lovely little area, by the creek, near our room. In the afternoon we went on a 5 hour wildlife tour in one of the famous “Going to the Sun” red buses- this was terrific the tour guide was very knowledgeable and we leant much of the history of the Park. We had the excitement of seeing up close and personal – longhorn sheep, mountain goats and deer. I have attached some photos.
Sunday 26 July – This morning we got up very early (so as to beat the heat of the day) and got underway by 7.30am, it was very sad leaving Apgar, as it is such a beautiful and tranquil spot, though the room we stayed in was a bit funny – the walls where that thin that the other night the guy in the next room fell into bed and knocked the wall and Mel go pushed aside in our bed — Mel kept having an issue that the person in the next room was only sleeping less then an inch away from him.
Anyway back onto today — we rode a total of 500I klms today. The scenery changed Alpine forests and lakes to hilled plains under heavy agriculture. We stayed off the I90 and travelled the back roads down through Helena. It was very scenic, we visited the headwaters of the Missouri, one of the things on Mel’s “bucket list”. We have stopped in a town called Belgrade on the I90, the heat was getting too much and we could see an afternoon thunder storm rolling in, and 500 klms was an okay ride for the day.
Cheers & best wishes
